'Time & Tide' Exhibition | 30th May- 23 June 2018 at Courtyard Arts

Digswell Fellows, Caryl Beach and Cathy Smale have been brought together in this collaboration through their love of seascapes and a fascination of the beach pebbles found on our shores worn away over millions of years, each unique from their journey over time and tide.

Caryl works in video, photography and mixed media:

“The transient nature of landscape and its diversity has fed into my practice producing journeys recorded in video, mixed media impressions of experiences, photographic snapshots that cannot capture but a hint of the sublime nature of landscape and the sea that encompasses it. The pebble represents a journey through the action of wind, sun, water, gravity and many other forces of nature that have continued to shape it through time.”

Cathy’s work is beautifully detailed oil painting:

“The British coastline is so diverse, each beach telling its own story of erosion and development, both from natural and human forces. My favourites are the pebble beaches, each stone different, and the overwhelming numbers that line the shores. My paintings are layered, the palette knife shaping each pebble and building up patterns within the landscape.”

Their work will be exhibited at Courtyard Arts from May 30th to June 23rd 2018. Private View Thursday May 31st 7:00-9:00pm.

Gallery Open Tuesday to Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm
