TRACTION ENGINE a commissioned image from earlier this year - some pressure to achieve all the details for this steam enthusiast, but I enjoyed layering the machine parts and capturing some of the character of the engine.

RED KITES - BLUE SKIES Years ago I visited a site in Wales where they were reintroducing Red Kites, apparently successfully as these fantastic birds now appear frequently, dynamic in flight, even circling high above my own garden on occasion.

BLOSSOMS AND BLUE TITS painted earlier this year when the skies were blue and all the trees were showing off their beautiful blossoms - providing branches and opportunities for little birds to pose in amongst all the busy

THE ROMAN ONE A detailed cityscape layered with ancient landmarks, tourists and vespas - this commission even includes a favourite hotel and gelato shop.

THE WINDHOVER AND THE PEEWITS (AKA THE KESTREL AND THE LAPWINGS) This illustration was commissioned by a friend, based on a grandfather's letters to his grandsons, telling stories of his childhood. "The kestrels were hunting for food and the lapwings would fly up from the moor crying out their alarm call "pee weet pee weet" Grandad and his friends called them 'Peewits' and when they heard them know to look up for the windhover sailing high above"

SAUNTON SANDS One of my sister's favourite places, and now one of mine too - so many lovely trips here with her and family....surfing, swimming, ice creams, waves, snails, paddling, chatting, relaxing, together....

DAISY FIELDS 21 To be honest, this one's been in the studio for a while now, every now and again I return to it. During lockdowns I was inspired to add a rainbow, more recently those colours have come down into the field, pinks and oranges amongst the daisies, lighter greens in the grass, and then a couple of birds flew into the sky... I'm really happy with it now. I think.

EIGHT LITTLE TITS for the eighth month...just some cute little guys hanging out on a line

IN THE TREES - BIRDS AND LEAVES Quiet and reflective, one of my favourite things this year was to sit at the back of the garden looking up through the trees listening to the birds chatter and sing. I love this perspective, an easy choice for the front cover calendar image too.

CHICKENS Love the colours and textures of these imPECKable ladies 🐔🐔🐔

WOODLAND BIRDS 16 it's a woodland painting again for November's calendar image, must be something about this time of year, stomping through leafy tracks in my wellies hoping to spot some friends above.... As the number suggests, it's a popular theme, this one inspired by nearby woods, and commissioned to include a family's favourite birds and the black squirrel who also visits their garden 🐿️

BIRD-DAY BUBBLES a celebratory one for the festive season, the latest in my #boozeybirds series. It took a time to paint all the bubbles but I do love the background to this little bird party!
